Joomla 1.6 has been released and as always, there are some core changes. I had a chance to do a fresh install, just recently. As I may have been quite acquainted (not an expert!) with Joomla 1.5, looking at Joomla 1.6 is very eye-pleasing but don’t look very much different.
Except, everything looks very neat.
Anyway, one of the first thing you may do after you get the installation complete, is to add templates. Adding all templates, modules, plugins are centralized to “Extension Manager”. All these, feels like very familiar since Joomla 1.5, however.
The other part of common operations during early stage upon installation completion is to remove templates you don’t like. 🙂 Now, you will notice from the “Template Manager”, if you try to delete that template you’ve added and hate it — it won’t go away! Notice the the blue “i” notification. It’s not very alarming and if you’re panic, you will probably miss it. It says, “Cannot delete last style of a template”.
Some of you, don’t care the existence; it doesn’t harm your system anyway. Well, okay. For those who really don’t like to see things that you don’t use laying around (like me); I must get rid of it — somehow… Don’t panic, here’s how:
Go back to “Extension Manager” . Click on “Manage”. Select filter from the drop-down menu “Template”.
It will list only your templates. Of course you can specify “location” to specifically list only templates for “Sites” (there two type of templates in Joomla 1.6; Sites and Administrator).
Tick/Check on template(s) you wish to remove from your Joomla installation; and click on “Uninstall”. Done.
Now, this blue “i” notification would probably makes you a happy person. 🙂
